Overview

Aligned to FHBC Membership Policy, the FHBC Sanctioning Policy requires field hockey leagues, events, or programs in BC to meet a series of safe sport governance requirements in order to be formally recognized as a FHBC Sanctioned entity or activity. This policy was last updated April 7, 2025.

Coverage

The FHBC Sanctioning Policy forms part of FHBC’s ongoing commitment to provide for consistent safe sport policy applications and procedures across the BC field hockey community. Where FHBC Membership Policy is directed to FHBC Member Clubs; FHBC Sanctioning Policy is directed to the following categories of sanction:

  • BC League Sanction (both Junior Participant and Senior Participant Leagues)
  • BC Event Sanction (those hosted by FHBC Member Clubs or Leagues)
  • BC Program Sanction (those hosted outside of a FHBC Member Club)

Summary Requirements:

In all three categories above there is one universal compliance requirement:

  • The requirement that all individuals involved in sanctioned field hockey activity be registered participants in good standing of both Field Hockey BC and Field Hockey Canada.

In all three categories above the due process to apply for formal sanction involves the following:

  • Application for official sanction requires the applicant to apply in writing to Field Hockey BC (FHBC). This may be in the form of an e-mail or letter.
  • The applicant in each applicable case will be required to provide written confirmation that all the requirements for sanction will be met. This may be in the form of an e-mail or letter.

Please refer to the FHBC Sanctioning Policy document above for more information on the compliance requirements for formal sanction. Should you have questions, please do not hesitate to direct these to a member of the FHBC staff team.
