Field Hockey BC’s president, Alan Waterman, and other BC names inducted into FHC Hall of Fame

Field Hockey BC would like to congratulate the president of our Board of Directors, Alan Waterman, for being in the 2019 Induction Class of Field Hockey Canada’s Hall of Fame. Alan, inducted in the Official category, have been an international umpire for over 17 years and umpired in several relevant events such as the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 1994 World Cup and three Champions Trophies.

Along with Alan Waterman, other prominent names of Field Hockey in our province are also being induced by FHC: Shelley Andrews from Victoria and Alan Hobkirk from Vancouver in the Athlete category. Shelley was the first Canadian female player to appear in more than 100 international matches and participated in several World Cups and in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Hobkirk was in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and was part of the team that won the Gold Medal in the 1983 Pan-Am.

In the Builder category, Dorothy Asuma from the Sunshine Coast, Jack Taunton from Vancouver and Jenny John from Kamloops are also being inducted. All of them are fundamental parts of the sport in British Columbia and – each in their own area and very special way – have been helping to develop field hockey all across the province for decades now.
